OUR WORKING RELATIONSHIP

Team Update
To further strengthen our Global Account Management team which works with you, we have created a new role for a Regional Account Manager for Asia. Akina Ho will be taking on this appointment, starting this week and will be based in Hong Kong. Please contact Akina if you would like to discuss anything relating to the Asia region.

Transformation Programme Update
You may recall from the first email bulletin in November that The Transformation Programme is about delivering a new technology base and helping to simplify the way in which internal IT services are available and delivered to Thomson Reuters.

Since November, we have progressed in the Release Based Testing of this solution, continued rollout of Branch Office Servers and we have commenced the rollout of device hardware. We have also made progress in upgrading the Network and Data Centre implementations which are the pre-cursor to the deployment of the overall solution. Over the next few months, the solution testing will be completed and the hardware deployment around the world to over 22,000 users will be well underway.

For further details about the Transformation Programme and progress, please contact Bryan Simms (Transformation Programme Director, Fujitsu)

Hybrid Update
Since November, our Hybrid discussions (contract amendment to align more closely with the combined Thomson Reuters integrated service model) have continued positively and we have made significant progress with the execution of elements of Hybrid. This includes completion of the transfer of application support for eSpresso and the transfer of India workplace support back to Thomson Reuters.

Over the next few weeks we will be concluding the remaining parts of the discussions and by the time of our next bulletin (May 2010), the contract amendment will be in place.

If you would like more information on Hybrid, please contact Anne MacRae (Head of Commercial & Vendor Management, Fujitsu)

Service Update
From a service perspective on our work with you, we continue to make good progress in service quality measured against the Service Level Agreements in place. With the success of the transfer of the Lisbon Global Service Desk to its new facility, Tony Irving (Global Head of Technology Operations, Thomson Reuters) and Wilma Low (Head of Internal Services, Thomson Reuters) took the opportunity to visit the desk on the 23rd November and spent some time with us discussing the service and participating in calls. An interview which was undertaken with Tony whilst he was in Lisbon can be viewed through this link

Whilst on business in Asia last month, Wilma also managed to take time to visit the Kuala Lumpur Global Service Desk, where she interacted with the Service Desk Agents taking part in an interactive question and answer session and discussed how the two Service Desks work together.

For further information about progress with the service, please contact Ben O’Reilly (Service Integration Director, Fujitsu)

Opinions on Technology
Turning cloud services into a Business Reality
Glenn Fitzgerald (Technical Design & Development Lead, Fujitsu)

Anyone who thinks cloud computing is too risky, unsecure or unreliable to play a central part in IT strategy is not only living in the past, but could be in danger of damaging their organisation’s future competitiveness. Some of the initial fears regarding the cloud are still valid, especially when considering the shift of mission-critical applications and services to the newer “public” cloud providers.

Software as a Service - a Faster, Cheaper way to Fail?
Paul Gilroy (Capability Lead, SaaS practice, Fujitsu)

A key selling point of software as a service (SaaS) applications is speed of deployment. But ultra-rapid implementations of five to 20 days need to be set against an uncomfortably high failure rate. What is required is a more iterative approach to SaaS roll outs that repeatedly matches the application capabilities and configuration to the business processes, work practices and information flows they are designed to support.
